Shot Rings Out In the Memphis Sky
One of my favorite songs by U2 -- in part a tribute to MLK, Jr. To see the video, go here.
One man come in the name of love
One man come and go
One come he to justify
One man to overthrow I
In the name of love
What more in the name of love
In the name of love
What more in the name of love
One man caught on a barbed wire fence
One man he resist
One man washed on an empty beach.
One man betrayed with a kiss
In the name of love
What more in the name of love
In the name of love
What more in the name of love
Early morning, April 4
Shot rings out in the Memphis sky
Free at last, they took your life
They could not take your pride
In the name of love
What more in the name of love
In the name of love
What more in the name of love
One man come in the name of love
One man come and go
One come he to justify
One man to overthrow I
In the name of love
What more in the name of love
In the name of love
What more in the name of love
One man caught on a barbed wire fence
One man he resist
One man washed on an empty beach.
One man betrayed with a kiss
In the name of love
What more in the name of love
In the name of love
What more in the name of love
Early morning, April 4
Shot rings out in the Memphis sky
Free at last, they took your life
They could not take your pride
In the name of love
What more in the name of love
In the name of love
What more in the name of love

Thanks, Chris. Also one of my favorite songs. It's incredible to think that was 40 years ago. Do you think our progress since that time would impress Dr. King were he still living?
As a companion to this song, take a listen or read a transcript of Dr. King's speech from the night before. Knowing what happened, that speech gives me chills.
Here's a link, might have to cut and paste it. http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=89326670
