The Grace of Trees
It's an overcast, drizzly day here in Columbia. As I was looking at the fiery fall colors, I thought, "God didn't have to make trees this way." The beautiful colors are completely gratuitous. Even on an evolutionary account, I can't think of any reason why the colors of autumn leaves would be pleasing to us, or even visible to human eyes. What sort of evolutionary advantage could this give a tree? None, that I can see. It seems the only reasonable explanation for the colors of fall is: God just wanted to see us smile.

I fully agree. But if God wanted us to really smile, He would have let the real Cats win this past Saturday.
How goes the mega-church search?
Dave is a wise man.
Dave,
Never doubt that God wants us to be happy. After all, the Gators have beaten the Georgia canines 14 out of the last 16 years. A run like that is all the proof I will ever need.
You are all crazy. We should avoid bringing football into this. The misfortunes of FSU are obviously evidence against God's existence, mush less his goodness. Better not to think about it.
Perhaps FSUs struggles are evidence against God's existence. However, they are evidence of cosmic karma. Couldn't happen to a "nicer" bunch. You can always swith your support to Mizzou. They are having a nice year (well, at least until the last few games).
Chris,
Nice blog and beautiful photographs!
