Free Will and Physics - Waking Life excerpt

If you are interested in the "free will" question, this is a great little animated video by David Sosa (Univ. of Texas)

Cool video chris.

Two initial points:

1) even though the guy isn't comfortable with the idea of human freedom being probabilistic or "random," that doesn't mean it's wrong. His comfort level doesn't determine the concept's truthfulness. Maybe free will is pretty irrationally used most of the time; maybe that is what proves its GENUINENESS.

2) I think that free will is bound up with a dualist view of the human constitution. I hadn't thought of this before, but as i watched him talk about how moving his arm worked according to physical/chemical laws (body), he failed to mention what initially started the process. Could this be the soul?

Take care Chris. I hope to talk to you soon.
